Webinar on Zambezi river WEFE nexus integration

Save the date for the third GoNexus webinar!

🗓 9 April 2025
⏰ 10 – 11 AM (GMT+2)

In one hour, we’ll show you and explain the results of the GoNexus project for the Zambezi river basin. You’ll find out more about the main lessons learned from the development and discussion of scenarios describing the potential evolution of the WEFE (water-energy-food-ecosystems) nexus, using a participatory methodological approach in the form of Dialogues.

Sharing knowledge at events like webinars is important, as it helps everyone to understand the key findings and what they could mean for future projects and initiatives.

The Zambezi Watercourse, shared by eight countries, is projected to have a population of 51 million by 2025. The Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM) was established in 2004 through an agreement signed by the riparian states. The commission’s mandate is to coordinate cooperation in the sustainable management of water resources in the Zambezi Watercourse.

Due to rapid population growth, there is a need to carefully consider WEFE nexus issues for sustainable development of the basin. The GoNexus Dialogues have been designed to interrogate the WEFE issues in the Zambezi Watercourse and to proffer solutions with the help of basin experts, such as:

  • the development and improvement of infrastructure
  • a series of policy changes
  • new institutional arrangements
  • markets and trading
  • risk-hedging actions across nexus components
  • better-integrated information systems
  • improved communication among WEFE nexus stakeholders

The webinar will end with a Q&A session.
